The International Symposium on Hazards, Prevention and Mitigation of Industrial Explosions (ISHPMIE) is an international symposium on the causes, modeling, prevention, and mitigation of industrial explosions. At the 16^th edition, held in April 2026, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the Best Paper Award was conferred on Aleksandra Semenova, MSc, and Priv.-Doz. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Christoph Spijker of the Chair of Thermal Process Technology from the technical University of Leoben for their paper “Interpreting Measurements of Iron Dust Explosions in a 20-L Sphere: Insights from Mass and Heat Balance Analysis.”

The ISHPMIE Best Paper Award recognizes the conference’s most outstanding, innovative, and practice-relevant contribution to safety and is granted on the basis of a peer-review process by an international scientific committee.
